Thrilling ride down 1664 feet and 26 switchbacks

Thanks to Beth of BeersandBeans.com, we have a photo of me riding a mule named Chevy down the trail to Kalaupapa on Molokai. This steep, cliff-side trail drops 1664 feet in elevation. With each of the 26 switchbacks, Chevy took the turns wide — at the edge of the trail. I was clinging on to the saddle for dear life.

Here’s my subsequent article on the Molokai mule ride to Kalaupapa and back.

The views along the way were stunning.
